Turmeric price, arrivals up

Spot prices of turmeric increased at the Erode markets on Friday along with arrivals. Krishnamurthy, a trader, said 6,500 bags of turmeric arrived for sale including 1,000 bags of new turmeric. The buyers purchased 60 per cent of the old turmeric. Regarding the price, the (new) finger variety was up ₹250 a quintal and the (new) root variety by ₹50. The (old) finger turmeric increased by ₹750 a quintal, while the (old) root variety gained ₹50-300 in line with quality.
