New Delhi, February 9: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday embarked on a four-day visit to Jordan, Palestine, UAE and Oman. His visit to Palestine will begin on February 10 after transiting through Jordan. Modi’s visit to Palestine comes less than a month after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s India trip. The two leaders had discussed the Palestine issue then.
“I will be undertaking bilateral visits to Palestine, United Arab Emirates and Oman from February 9th to 12th. The Gulf and West Asian region is a key priority in our external engagement. We enjoy vibrant multi-dimensional ties with the countries there. The Palestine visit will begin on 10th February after transiting through Jordan,” Modi tweeted.
Modi will hold meeting with Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas and reaffirm support for the country and its development. “This will be the first ever Prime Ministerial visit to Palestine from India. I am looking forward to my discussions with President Mahmoud Abbas,” Modi said in his Facebook post.

Modi will then visit UAE and will hold talks with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. He will also address the sixth edition of the World Government Summit in Dubai, where India is the Guest Country of Honour.
“There will be interactions with leading UAE and Arab CEOs in Dubai on the vast economic opportunities in India and what more can be done together to increase business collaboration,” Modi tweeted.
In Oman, Modi will hold talks with His Majesty the Sultan of Oman and other leaders. “In both Oman and the UAE, I will have the opportunity to meet the large Indian diasporas that have made those countries their home. The Indian diaspora is a bridge of friendship between India and the Gulf countries.” Modi said.
