Father of "Siesta Key" reality show star was pulled over while driving 100 mph, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

MANATEE COUNTY -- The founder of the 1-800-ASK-GARY referral service, and father of the star of MTV's "Siesta Key" reality show, has been arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Gary Kompothecras, 57, was arrested Thursday morning at about 2 a.m. after a deputy clocked Kompothecras in a silver Porsche traveling 100 mph on the JD Young Bridge on Interstate 75. According to the deputy, Kompothecras smelled of alcohol and claimed he had had wine at the Hard Rock.

During a field sobriety test, the deputy asked Kompothecras to recite the alphabet. Kompothecras said that he had a doctorate and knew the alphabet, but during the exercise could not recite the alphabet despite numerous attempts. Kompothecras was placed under arrest. He refused to provide a breath sample.

He was released from the Manatee County jail Thursday on $500 bail.
