Shepherdsville couple arrested after drugs, guns, thousands seized

A Shepherdsville couple is behind bars after a search of their car, home and business yields drugs, guns, and thousands in cash. Jeremy Dunton, 36, and his wife, Analisa Dunton, 31, were arrested by the Shepherdsville Police Department's street crimes unit Wednesday evening.

"We started the unit back in September and to say we've been extremely successful would still be low balling it," Chief of Police Rick McCubbin told WLKY.

Because, in that time the street crimes unit has seized $25,000, almost 500 grams of meth, nearly 265 grams of heroin, and more than 6.5 pounds of marijuana. The four-man unit, which focuses solely on drug investigations, has made 124 arrests.

The Duntons' arrest Wednesday was just the latest. The couple's car, with just one working headlight, was stopped on KY 44E around 7:30 p.m. Police recovered half a pound of meth, drug paraphernalia, and $7,000 in cash.

McCubbin says the stop was not random, "It's taken quite a while to work this investigation and it just worked out last night, it was a simple traffic stop that led to it."

The couple's home on Circle Drive in Shepherdsville was also searched. More meth, marijuana, guns, and another $1,000 was seized. There were also 13 vehicles, police believe were bought with drug money, that were taken as part of the investigation. At Hobbie's Cafe, the restaurant operated by the Duntons, police say more meth, drug paraphernalia, and a gun was recovered.

McCubbin says it's all thanks to good policing and that burned out headlight.

"We have to be relentless, and sometimes the simplest things lead to the biggest things and this is proof right here and we're not going to stop," McCubbin said.

The Duntons, held on bonds of $50,000 each, will be back in court next week.

Police say because the couple's children were in the home where drugs were recovered, more charges are expected.
