SIR – I read the exclusive report on your front page (February 8) with shock and anger. To learn that George Soros, who caused untold economic loss to the United Kingdom in the past, has been joined by other very wealthy individuals to thwart the democratic will of the electorate to leave the EU was in itself shocking. But to learn that some parliamentarians were joining forces with him made me angry.
There has been much talk of Russian interference in that 2016 referendum and in the American presidential election of the same year. Yet here we have a clear example of foreign money being used to influence the political direction of our country, apparently abetted by people from both Houses of Parliament.
Talk of providing funds for advertising in order to overthrow the result, and thus to bring down the current Prime Minister and provoke another election, is shameful.
