PM Modi leaves on four-day visit to Palestine, UAE and Oman

modiPrime Minister Narendra Modi left on a four day three nation tour to Palestine, UAE and Oman from today. This is the first ever visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Palestine and Oman and second visit to UAE.

In the first leg, Mr Modi will reach Palestinian city of Ramallah, tomorrow morning, after a stopover at Jordanian capital Amman tonight. He will hold delegation-level talks with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after which a number of MoUs are expected to be signed. It will be followed by a joint press conference.

Before formal talks, Prime minister would be visiting legendary Yasser Arafat’s museum. During the last three years, India has made significant and positive contributions for the Palestinian cause.

The two sides have deepen engagement in several areas including health, IT, tourism, youth affairs, sports and agriculture. Prime Minister will be travelling to UAE and Oman from 10th to 12th. He will take part in in the Sixth World Government’s Summit, in Dubai. Beyond the buyer-seller engagement, India and the UAE have now moved into strategic sphere in terms of the energy security.

The Indian diaspora is now 9 million strong and growing and the amount of money they sent back home is about 35 billion dollars annual.

In Abu Dhabi, he will be hosted by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Prime minister will meet CEOs in Dubai and later travel to Oman, his first visit to the country, where he will address a community event. It will be a very large big community event.

He is travelling to Oman for the first time. Oman is a very important strategic partner of India. After the community event which will take place in a big stadium in Muscat, Mr Modi will meet with Sultan Qaboos and there will be a special dinner hosted by Sultan Qaboos in honor of the Prime Minister.
