MONROE – The Terrebonne High School boys’ soccer team made school history on Thursday night.

With a 1-0 road victory over No. 7 Neville in the second round of the Division II playoffs, the No. 10 Tigers advanced to the first soccer quarterfinals in school history.

Terrebonne (19-3-8 overall) scored late in the first half after a throw-in from Cameron Dowden was headed into the goal by Mauro Ramirez.

Tigers goalie Dorian Lirette, who had more than 10 saves, and the Terrebonne defense kept Neville (11-7-11 overall) off the scoreboard the rest of the way to preserve Terrebonne’s victory.

Lirette recorded the clean-sheet victory in goal.

“We pulled the 1-0 upset,” Terrebonne coach Joe Clement said. “I am so proud of them. They played so hard. We used a lot of players, probably 18 or 19 players, and everyone on the field gave it their all.”

The Tigers will next play either No. 2 Beau Chene or No. 18 Live Oak in the D-II quarterfinals.
