Mumbai: Actor Shweta Rohira recently took the Padman Challenge. As part of promotion for actor Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film Padman, many actors clicked themselves holding sanitary pads, showing that periods are nothing to be ashamed about. Shweta was challenged by actor Elli Avvram. She put up a post and captioned it as “Thank you for the challenge @elliavrram Yes, that’s a Pad in my hand & there’s nothing to be ashamed about. It’s natural! Period.”

Shweta says that this taboo on things like periods needs to go. “I really think the mindset of people needs to change. That’s why I have totally gone out and through a small post contributed to support this cause,” she says.

The actor says that when she got her period for the first time, she was already aware of what was happening and was not flustered. “It wasn’t something difficult that had to be handled. The school and my mom had educated me very well in advance,” she says.

In fact, the actor did not even feel uncomfortable. “Since I was studying in a school where this was a part of education for girls, there was no uncomfortableness at all,” she says, adding, “I really think sex education should be compulsory in schools.”
