Sidharth MalhotraManoj Bajpayee starrer Aiyaary is perhaps one of the most anticipated films of the year. The movie was to first release on the Republic Day weekend but due to the Central Board Of Film Certification clearing Padmaavat and giving it a release date ie January 25, the makers pushed the release date to February 9 ie today, thus clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Padman. However, given that the Defence Ministry wanted to watch the film prior to its release, the CBFC did not clear the film well in time for its release today.

Well, Mumbai Mirror has now reported that the reason for the film’s postponement is that it deals with the much talked about scam ie Adarsh Society Scam. In the trailer one can hear actor Naseeruddin Shah say, “Kha jayenge, neta aur neta ke chamche,” which seems to be an indirect reference to the scam. At least that’s what the source hints, when quoted by the leading tabloid. The source told Mirror that the film unearths many scams, but the Adarsh society scam is an integral part of the plot.

The film is now slated to release on February 16. The decision to release it that day comes after getting the requisite clearance from the CBFC and the Ministry of Defence. Following the review of the film by the CBFC, a special screening was held for the Ministry of Defence as instructed by the CBFC. The Censor Board prescribed modifications to the film, following which Aiyaary finally received its censor certification, an official statement said. Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey took to Twitter and posted a picture of the censor certificate and wrote, “Finally… this just arrived. All cleared for #AiyaaryOnFeb16 now! Thank you #CBFCIndia. Thank you MOD. See you on Feb 16 in cinemas near you!” The films also stars Pooja Chopra, Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher and Adil Hussain in pivotal roles.
