Amitabh Bachchan discharged after being briefly admitted to Lilavati Hospital for 'routine check-up'

Update: "Get well soon" wishes for Amitabh Bachchan flooded social media soon after reports stated that he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on Friday. However the Bollywood star, 75, left the facility a few hours after a routine check-up.

"Mr Bachchan came for a routine check-up and went home," Ravishankar, CEO of the Lilavati Hospital here, told IANS.

Amitabh was spotted in the backseat of his car while making his way out of the Bandra West facility. He hid his face with a cap. His son Abhishek Bachchan was also seen by his side.

The actor, busy with his work commitments for 102 Not Out and Thugs of Hindostan, has been complaining of aggravated pain in the shoulder for a while. He has also been doing a lot of late night shoots and recording sessions.

After returning from an all-night shoot for Thugs of Hindostan in the early hours of Thursday, the actor launched the teaser for 102 Not Out on social media later in the day.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has been admitted to the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai on 9 February, after his health deteriorated. The hospital has confirmed the news, however further details are awaited.

It is also reported that all his immediate family members are present at the hospital. The reason behind his hospitalisation is unknown, however he was reportedly not keeping well for a while.

According to a report by Republic, Dr Jayant Barve, a gastro intestinal and liver specialist is in charge of Bachchan's medical case.

Even last year Amitabh was hospitalised owing to bad health. However, he announced his recovery to his fans via Twitter.

On 9 February, the teaser of his upcoming film 102 Not Out also released where he is seen portraying the role of a 102-year-old man and father to a 75-year-old man played by Rishi Kapoor. Both the industry veterans will be seen together after a gap of 27 years. During the 1970s and 1980s they starred together in films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Naseeb, Kabhi Kabhie and Ajooba.
