Nest co-founder Matt Rogers said on Twitter that he will be leaving the company after it merges into Google’s own hardware division, Cnet reported. Google said the move will strengthen its business in the smart home market. Rogers, who spent nine years building up Nest, said he will dedicate more time to Incite.org and to other new, innovative projects. He will continue to work at Google’s Hardware over the next few months to define a roadmap for 2019 and to ensure a smooth integration of Nest into the Hardware group.

Rogers co-founded the smart home company together with former Apple product designer Tony Fadell.
