SALEM, Ore. -- Oregon State Police are looking for the suspect involved in an attempted kidnapping Thursday morning.

Police say around 4 a.m., a 20-year-old woman ran out of gas on I-5 southbound near the Market Street on-ramp.

She was waiting for her father when a man stopped and offered to help. Police say the woman declined and the man grabbed her arm and tried to pull her back toward his pickup.

The woman was able to escape after another woman drove by and yelled out her window to offer assistance. The man ran back to his pickup and sped away.

Oregon State Police are looking for the suspect. He is described as a white adult, about 5-foot-9 to 5-10, and about 200 pounds. He has dark brown hair and was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt, jeans, and athletic shoes. He was driving a dark blue or black pickup truck.

Oregon State Police is also looking for the woman who intervened to help. If anyone has any information about the suspect or saw the incident, they are asked to contact the Oregon State Police Northern Command Center at (503) 375-3555.
