Hyderabad, Feb 9: Self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dixit, who is an accused of confining women and girls in his ashrams across north India, has been spotted at a centre in Tadepalligudem in Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district. The Baba is said to be absconding since the raids at his centre at Mohan Garden area of West Delhi’s Uttam Nagar last December wherein 41 women inmates were rescued.

The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed the SP of West Godavari district to file a report on the alleged suspicious activities taking place the centre after petition by the residents of Savitrupeta where the centre is running under the name of Adhyatmik Vishwa Vidyalaya, Chandigarh in a 3-storied building, reports say.

The petition by the residents accuse the Baba of entertaining and moving only with women. Seeking a probe, they also alleged that suspicious activities are carried out at the centre during late hours everyday. The Baba, on the other hand, has claimed that he was conducting spiritual classes.

A report in The Times of India, the petitioners have informed the court that 25 women from their districts have become ‘captives’ at the centre.

Earlier in January, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had registered three cases against self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dixit. The Delhi High Court had also directed the CBI to trace the whereabouts of the founder the north Delhi-based ashram.
