Private carrier Jet Airways today announced the launch of its second daily flight to Singapore from Bengaluru starting next month to meet the growing passenger demand on the route. The new additional service, to be operational from March 15, will also provide Jet Airways' passengers connectivity beyond Singapore to Denpasar/Bali, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur through codeshare flights with the partner carriers Garuda and Malaysian Airlines, a release said. In late October, Jet Airways had launched a non-stop service to Amsterdam from Bengaluru, in codeshare with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France and Delta Air Lines, connecting guests to 106 destinations in Europe and onwards to North America. The introduction of the second frequency forms part of Jet Airways focus to strengthen its presence in Bengaluru as the carriers upcoming third hub, in addition to Mumbai and Delhi, and aims to facilitate seamless onward connections for passengers across its global network of 64 destinations, including 44 in India, it said. "This second daily service will benefit business travellers who are looking at tapping into India and Singapores promising commercial opportunities.
In addition, Singapore boasts of a huge Indian diaspora that can avail of this opportunity to strengthen ties to their roots," Jet Airways whole-time director Gaurang Shetty said. The second daily service to Singapore will also offer passengers travelling from destinations in the Indo-Pacific region such as Fiji, Darwin, Phuket, Penang, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane a seamless connection to Amsterdam via Bengaluru through codeshare operated by partners carriers like Fiji Airways, Jetstar Asia and Qantas, it said. The second frequency will also enhance Jet Airways cargo capacity on this route to 5,000 kg from 2,500 kg each way, at present, it said adding it will also give movement of goods to access the Amsterdam market and other destinations in Europe. This is made possible with a daily connection from Singapore to Amsterdam via direct dailies available between Bengaluru and Amsterdam, it added. Jet Airways has also announced special introductory return economy fares from Bengaluru, starting at Rs 11,768. Passengers can book tickets with these special fares starting February 15, for journeys commencing from March 15 onwards, Jet Airways said in the release.
