Australia's decision to drop Glenn Maxwell from the ODI squad against England came under a lot of scrutiny and left many people shocked.

Naturally, all eyes were on Maxwell in the T20Is and his performances have proved that he remains integral to Australia's limited overs game.

Maxwell has been on a roll in this T20I Series so far: He is yet to be dismissed in this series and has played two brilliant innings for his team in this series. He scored a 40* against New Zealand and followed it up with an unbeaten 103 against England.

He remains the highest scorer in the series with 143 runs and a strike rate of 174.39.

Maxwell in the shortest format of the game has been the go-to man for the Aussies. If we look at the Top 5 run scorers for Australia since 2016 world Cup, Maxwell heads the list.

Maxwell has scored 371 runs in 6 matches at an average of 185.50 post 2016 World Cup. During this span he has hit two T20I tons, which is the most by an Australian batsman. His tons:
▪ 145* Vs Sri Lanka at Pallekele in 2016.
▪ 103* Vs England at Sydney in 2018.

Head is second on the list with 182 runs in 8 matches followed by Finch (158), Henriques (146) and Klinger (143) respectively: As context, Maxwell has scored more T20I runs than the next two-highest Australians combined.

However, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Maxwell hasn’t been amongst the runs in the shortest format. In his 4 matches thus far, he has scored just 11 runs at an average of 3.66. Maxwell’s worst.
