King holds talks with Pakistani president in Islamabad

Islamabad, Feb. 9 (Petra)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Friday, discussed with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain bilateral ties and ways to further boost them in various fields.



In an expanded talks, which were held at the presidential palace in Islamabad, His Majesty stressed the importance of promoting ties, namely, in defense industries sphere.



There is a need to exchange visits between the public and private sectors of both countries, in order to increase trade volume between Pakistan and Jordan, the Pakistani president said.



Talks covered a wide range of issues including the latest developments in the Middle East region, and fighting terrorism within a holistic approach.



His Majesty affirmed the need, in cooperation with Pakistan, to clarify the true image of Islam and its values of tolerance and moderation.



The Palestinian cause was also on the agenda of the talks, as His Majesty emphasized that the issue of Jerusalem which is the key to the peace and stability in the region, should be resolved within a framework of a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.



Talks also dealt with Jammu and Kashmir cause, as the two sides voiced their desire to resolve the issue through a political track with India.



The Pakistani president praised His Majesty's role in bringing peace and stability to the region, expressing his country's desire to enhance ties with the Kingdom.



The talks were attended by the foreign minister, the army chief, the director of the King's Office, and Jordan's ambassador in Islamabad.
