British snowboarder Katie Ormerod was "gutted" Friday after a broken heel ruled her out of the Pyeongchang Olympics. The 20-year-old, who was to all set to compete in slopestyle and big air, broke the bone in training on Thursday.

She had suffered a wrist fracture a day earlier, but had shrugged that injury off. Ormerod, one of the British team's Pyeongchang medal hopes, said she would undergo surgery later Friday on the heel.

"Words can't describe how gutted I am," she said on her Instagram account. "After dreaming of competing at the Olympics for years, I finally got there and received the most bad luck I've ever had," she added.
