This is the second day of the Auto Expo 2018 and today is also the day when Maruti Suzuki India will officially launch the new-generation Swift. Along with its UM Motorcycles is ready to unveil the first-ever electric cruiser motorcycle, while Bengaluru-based start-up Emflux Motors will be introducing India's first electric superbike. Based on the company's new Heartect platform, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is now more rigid and lighter by about 90 kg. The car also gets an all-new design that looks more modern and contemporary along with a host of smart features that have been added to the Swift for the first time like - LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, diamond cut alloy wheels and LED taillamps. Of course, most of these features will be exclusive to the top-end ZXI+ and ZDI+ models. The car also gets updated interior with new upholstery, and an all-new dashboard that features a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, and a flat-bottom steering with mounted controls and much more.
Engines remain the same though. The 1.2-litre K-Series engine that makes 82 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque, while the diesel version gets the tried and tested 1.3-litre DDIS engine that makes 74 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. While a 5-speed manual gearbox is still standard across the variant list, Maruti now also offers its auto gear shift (AGS), its AMT unit as an option.
