LeBron James came out and publicly declared he will not waive his no-trade clause in his contract ahead of the trade deadline.
His statement shocked many as there seemed to be no indication the four-time MVP would in fact do so.
But ESPN’s Brian Windhorst has claimed James felt it necessary due to the Cavaliers being contacted by several NBA teams regarding the trade window.
He told ESPN’s SportsCenter: “Enough teams had gotten word that this situation had gone so poorly that teams were calling to try and gauge whether LeBron was prepared to move on and to waive the no-trade by Thursday.
“And that’s why LeBron felt he had to say something because teams were calling.”
Boston have reportedly put Marcus Smart in the shop window in an attempt to take a first-round draft pick this summer.
But the US Metro claim they could still be in the market to bring in another body.
And it is reported the Celtics could surprisingly turn their attention to Avery Bradley, who Danny Ainge traded away to the Detroit Pistons last summer.
The 27-year-old has since moved to the LA Clippers in the Blake Griffin trade and Michael Winger is willing to listen to offers for Bradley.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have been strongly linked with a move for Bradley but it is suggested they do not have enough pieces to acquire the guard.
And the Metro go on to claim Boston would be willing to offer Smart and their own 2018 first round draft pick for Bradley.

Klay Thompson’s father, Mychal, has insisted his son has no intention of leaving the Golden State Warriors in the near future.
The Warriors arguably have the strongest line-up in the league with four bonafide All-Stars.
Steph Curry and Kevin Durant often get the plaudits while Draymond Green garners his own attention through his defensive abilities.
Thompson, an All-Star in his own right, can sometimes get overlooked for his role with the Warriors and with the Golden State soon having to shell out big money for Durant that could lead to teams offering an out for Thompson.

But Mychal Thompson insists his son wants to stay in the Bay Area for the entirety of his career.
"He doesn’t need to be 'the guy,'" Mychal Thompson told SiriusXM. ”He loves playing there. He loves playing with Steph and KD and the whole crew.
"He knows other teams are interested in him," Mychal Thompson said. "(But) he would love to retire a Warrior, so I think he’s planning on staying.”
