Manikganj : At least two people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Gheor upazila on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as bus driver Sobhan Sheikh,52, from Shibalay upazila of the district, and passenger Shipon Munshi, 38, from Goalundo of Rajbari.

Quoting passengers, Barangail Highway police outpost in-charge M Yasin-Ud-Doula said the bus fell into the ditch in Joka area at about 4pm when one of the tyres of the bus deflated, leaving 17 people injured.

They were taken to a hospital where the due dead.
