The battle royal hasn’t managed to leave much of a mark at the Showcase of the Immortals ever since its inception in 2014 and past winners Cesaro, Big Show, Baron Corbin and Mojo Rawley have failed to build any momentum after their respective triumphs.

A return from Goldberg though would shock the world and provide one of the greatest ever WrestleMania moments.

“Da Man” wrecked havoc in WCW since his debut in September of 1997 and went on to enjoy an unprecedented undefeated streak of 173-0.

He won the United States Championship twice as well as the WCW Tag Team titles with Bret Hart and beat Hollywood Hulk Hogan for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship.

According to The Sun, WWE are considering bringing the ex-World Heavyweight Champion back to the ring to triumph in the annual over-the-top-rope challenge on April 8 in New Orleans.

Goldberg, 51, will be inducted in the Hall of Fame class of 2018 on April 6.

WWE have presented the battle royal on the pre-show twice but seem keen to give it an extra push this year due to the upcoming HBO Sport documentary on Andre The Giant.

The company could produce more projects with the HBO Network if the program attracts a lot of viewership.

He then joined WWE in 2003 where he won the World Heavyweight title from Triple H and beat the likes of Chris Jericho, The Rock and many more.

Goldberg left a year later following a disappointing match with Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania XX.

Many thought that was the last the WWE Universe would ever see of him but Goldberg made an explosive return to the ring in the 2016 Survivor Series when he beat Lesnar in just one minute and 26 seconds.

The WCW legend then won the Universal title from Kevin Owens at Fastlane and lost it to Lesnar at WrestleMania last year.
