That’s according to boxing expert Gareth A Davies.
The two superstars faced off in a boxing bout last summer, with McGregor eventually stopped in the 10th round of his first professional fight.
Speculation has continued over a rematch in the ring, with the Irishman keen to avenge his defeat.
But McGregor has also hinted that he wants to return to the octagon, with his last MMA fight coming against Eddie Alvarez in November 2016, when he won the lightweight belt.
The 29-year-old is in danger of losing his title if he doesn't return soon and Tony Ferguson has been named interim champ ahead of his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov in April.

Mayweather has flirted with the possibility of dipping his toe in unfamiliar territory, posting videos on Instagram of him in the octagon and asking for odds on him taking up the sport.
And while experts in the field insist Mayweather wouldn't stand a chance against McGregor, Davies believes the big-money fight could be closer to happening than people realise.
“My soundings are that there are a lot of talks going on in the background, there are a lot of talks around people with Mayweather,” he told talkSPORT.
“There are a lot of talks about him potentially having an MMA fight with Conor McGregor.

“People will tune in to see Mayweather get stopped by Conor McGregor and it won’t affect his boxing record.
“I think it’s going to happen and I think it will be a three, four, five hundred million dollar fight again.”
