UK aerospace company Sky and Space Global (SAS) and Globalsat, a provider of mobile satellite services in the Americas, have announced the launch of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) trials in Central and South America. The partners said the tests will potentially provide SAS with access to a new market, while enabling Globalsat to expand its connectivity services. Trials will be performed using Globalsat’s network infrastructure and customer base with the aim to deliver M2M and IoT services in remote locations.

The testing follows the successful launch of the “3 Diamonds” nano-satellites last June and the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the companies in March 2017 to work together to explore provision of narrow-band satellite communication services in Central and South America.
