As many as 189 passengers and five crew members of Delhi bound SpiceJet flight had a close shave on Thursday afternoon when the aircraft made an emergency landing at the Chennai airport 45 minutes after take-off.

The aircraft reportedly landed nose down after front tyre burst touch down down due to suspected hydraulic failure.
The damaged tyre led to the damaging of the runway and emergency services which were ready at the runway made sure that there was no fire and passengers were rescued without any injuries.
Another aircraft, a cargo carrier too made an emergency landing at around 2.45 pm on secondary runway, nearly 20 minutes after the Spicejet landing damaged the first runway.

After the cargo carrier was removed from the secondary runway, all regular operation was started on the secondary runway.
Due to the damaged runway and emergency landing, schedules of as many as 18 in coming and going flights were affected.
