Sioux Falls woman arrested in Mitchell for meth possession

A Sioux Falls woman was arrested in Mitchell for possessing meth and attempting to lead police on a foot pursuit.

On Jan. 30, Mitchell police responded to North Wisconsin Street for a report of a female attempting to break a window, according to court documents. Upon officers' arrival, the woman, 51-year-old Candace Fredericks, began walking toward a house and she allegedly began running when police told her to stop. Police caught Fredericks after "a few yards," according to court documents, and found a glass cylinder in her pocket containing meth.

She was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, a Class 5 felony, punishable upon conviction by up to five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
