NCTV18 honored with media creator award

(Feb. 8, 2018) Nantucket Community Television has been honored as one of the best media creators in Massachusetts.

NCTV18 won "Best Culinary Show" at the 2018 Massachusetts Creator Awards Jan. 23 in Boston.

NCTV executive director Lisa Getter and Mark Pommett, NCTV producer and editor, were recognized for the production of a program called “SharkBites” that premiered in 2017. Peter Nevers, creator and host of “SharkBites,” is an islander and NCTV member, who developed the concept of the show spotlighting Nantucket’s chefs and their skills in creating memorable meals.

The award-winning episode, the first in the series, focused on chef Michael Getter and Dune Restaurant.

The production crew was comprised of Getter, Pommett, Andrew Cromartie, Taylor Haag and production interns, William and Carsten Higbie. Animations and graphics were produced by Arlene O’Reilly of Mind’s Eye Productions.

"We are very grateful to The Massachusetts Creator Awards for this honor and award, and I’m very proud of the leaps and bounds our station has taken over the last couple of years, expanding and growing," Getter said.

"This is a great kick-off for us in 2018, and indicates an exciting future for NCTV, and the degree of high-quality programming and production we strive for.”
