Orbis to offer free eye care service to Rohingyas

Orbis International Bangladesh will offer free eye care service to forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (FDMN) and host communities in Cox's Bazar.  The international organisation signed a partnership agreement with Cox's Bazar Baitush Sharaf Hospital to this effect at the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner's (RRRC) office on Tuesday, said a press release on Wednesday.
 Under the project, free eye screening will be conducted on 50,000 people (60% children and 40% adult), medicine and spectacles provided to 8,000 children and adults, surgical treatment offered to 20 children and 850 adults (child surgery and complicated cataract and other surgery) and skill development training will be given to around 250 frontline health workers and ophthalmic personnel in the first year of the project.
