Man who groped teen, sprayed her with perfume sought by Providence police

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Police are looking for a man who reportedly groped a teenage girl on a RIPTA bus and sprayed her with cheap perfume.

The suspect, described as a man in his 40s wearing a white beanie, approached the 15-year-old girl as she waited for a bus near Central High School Tuesday morning. She told police that he followed her onto the bus and tried to strike up a conversation, then asked her if she was cold and started rubbing her shoulders and thighs, according to a police report.

The man continued bothering her until the bus reached Kennedy Plaza, and then tried to kiss her and said, "You know where to find me," according to the police. He then sprayed her with Cool Water perfume, but the girl grabbed the bottle from him and ran.

She reported the assault while at The Met School, which notified police. Detectives seized the perfume bottle.
