The City of Massillon has partnered with local businesses downtown to offer a variety of deals to residents who want to enjoy an evening out Saturday.

MASSILLON With Valentine's Day falling in the middle of the week this year, many might opt to celebrate the weekend before.

The city has partnered with local businesses downtown to offer a variety of deals to folks out for a Saturday date night with their valentine.

Anita Combs, administrative assistant at the city's engineering department, said officials have been collaborating with local business owners to encourage residents to spend more time downtown. The group figured Valentine's Day offers the perfect time of year to host a date night.

"It's just to support our local businesses and get more people to come downtown and enjoy our great local places," she said.

Seventeen area businesses are offering deals on Saturday as part of the downtown date night. Some offers extend through the month depending on the business.

To get the deal, residents must present one of the coupons. These coupons are available at City Hall, Visit Canton visitor center and any of the participating businesses.

One coupon can be used for multiple offers listed on the back of the card. If you go to more than one location, you do not need more than one coupon.

A hashtag has been created for anyone participating in the date night. If you want to share a photo of your date or group, tweet or post using #mtowndatenight2018.
