Though few in numbers, Comrades attending what was supposed to be a mass rally at the Maverley Primary School in St Andrew North West were in high spirits in anticipation of being formally introduced to their soon-to-be candidate, Padmore Primary School principal Keisha Hayle.
Some of the Comrades openly expressed confidence in the candidacy of Hayle, who will be challenged in the March 5 by-election by the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP's) Dr Nigel Clarke.
The by-election was called after the resignation of the JLP's Derrick Smith who held the seat for 29 years.
There were frequent appeals from Wensworth Skeffery for Comrades to move closer to the stage to fill the open gap up to two hours after the scheduled starting time.
But according to Skeffery, the Comrades should not see victory against the Jamaica Labour Party as an impossible task.
He said it was possible to create the greatest “political upset” in the constituency.
PNP heavyweights like Phillip Paulwell, Dr Angela Brown Burke and Mark Golding have come out in support of Hayle.
Party president Dr Peter Phillips is expected to address the rally tonight.
