Office of the chief commissioner for persons with disabilities came into existence with the appointment of the first chief commissioner on 1 September, 1998.
Since its inception, 35255 cases have been registered in the office of CCPD and 33,526 had been disposed of by the end of December. While most of the orders of the CCPD benefit individual complaints with disabilities, a large number has resulted in framing or review of existing policies benefitting the entire population of PWDs in the country.
To reach out to the present with disabilities and hear their grievances pertaining availability of the benefits meant for them, the office of the chief commissioner for persons with disability organising “Mobile Courts” in different parts of the country along with the commissioner for persons with disabilities of the concerned State Governments.
