Writer Kannika Hegde passes away

Karwar: Noted writer and poet Kannika Hegde passed away at her hometown Honnavar on Thursday.

Born on January 18, 1951 in at Sirsi, she had mainly written stories and poems on love and human relationship. After completing her education in Sirsi and Honnavar, she had a brief stint as a teacher before joining the postal department in Honnavar. She began writing stories in the early 1970s and brought out a book called "Kannika Hegde Kavitegalu" in 1976. She once stated that the writings of William Shakespeare had influenced and inspired her literary works. She had participated in many literary meets.


Her husband Prabhakar Hegde is in Haigund near Honnavar and children in Bengaluru.


Nagaraj Harapanahalli, president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Karwar, expressed his grief over the demise.
