WOOSTER — Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Drouhard, 76, of Wooster, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Jan. 10, 1942, in Wooster, the daughter of Sabatino "Sam" and Edith Carsone Tomassetti, and married Donald Drouhard on Sept. 1, 1962. He survives.

Betty was a very loving and devoted wife of 55 years, mother of three and grandmother of five, who put the needs of her family ahead of her own. Keeping true to her Italian heritage, Betty thrived on family traditions such as hosting holiday Italian feasts where many authentic dishes were prepared. Growing up in a devout Catholic home was the beginning of Betty’s lifelong faith. She traveled to Medjugorje, where she enhanced her devotion to the Blessed Mother. Betty’s affection and kindness for friends and family was reflected in the many prayers and handwritten notes she sent.

After raising her family she worked as a teacher’s aide, frequently working with special needs children at Boys’ Village, Wooster High School and Melrose Elementary. Betty demonstrated her passion for working with students and enhancing teacher’s lessons by taking a personal interest in each child and project assigned. She also enjoyed working various positions in the retail industry.

As a former member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Wooster, Betty served as a eucharistic minister and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. As a current member of Sacred Heart Church of Wadsworth, she actively participated in a group Bible study.

Surviving in addition to her husband, Don, are her children, Jeffrey (Brenda) Drouhard of Wooster, Donae (Scott) Ranson of Austin, Texas, and Todd (Alecia) Drouhard of Troy; grandchildren, Kylie Drouhard, Zachary (Sara) Drouhard, Austin and Alissa Ranson and Cara Drouhard; a sister, Donna Shie of Orrville and a niece, Nancy (Wayne) Yoder of Orrville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, several aunts and other close relatives.

Friends will be received Friday, Feb. 9 from 6-8 p.m. at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mintirebradhamsleek.com.
