Get Fit With In-Home Training

Sophie Heinemann reports:

Has this happened to you before? You get home from work and are too tired to get back in the car to go to the gym?

You could work out at home, but you need to make sure you're doing the exercises correctly. Finding motivation to workout is easy when it's literally knocking on your door.

"I think the convenience of having someone come right to your house and wake you up. It's easier on the motivation, it's easier on the commitment level. Also just being able to workout in the comfort of my own home and then being able to go upstairs and get ready for work," Shawn Peterson said.

About a year and a half ago, Peterson and Jewell Laible started receiving in-home training sessions.

"We have two small children. So, they can stay asleep. We don't have to drag them to the gym, or after work when it's really busy. It's just helped us out a ton," Laible said.

And while these two have some home workout equipment, personal trainer Shelbie Pettie says it's not a necessity.

"you can use things around your house to pick up. Whether you're doing upper body, lower body, you can use your furniture," Pettie said.

A typical session runs 45 minutes to an hour, with a varying price point, based on personal needs.

"It helps us both be flexible with what we want to do for our workouts that day," Laible said.

Pettie began personal training while employed at a local gym, but found that her passion went beyond the exercise.

"It's my job to encourage them. Be there for them. Be an accountability partner, and also to build that personal relationship with them," Pettie said.

Peterson says that relationship along with his results are his favorite parts.

"I think the personal attention to your body type, etc. has really helped a lot," Peterson said.

No gym equipment. No membership. It's as easy as putting your gym clothes on and opening your door.
