SEABROOK — When the sign-up period ended last Friday evening, four town residents had tossed their hats in the ring to compete for a seat on the Board of Selectmen, including the incumbent.
Selectwoman Theresa Kyle is running for her second, three-year term on the board, with Ellen Chase, William Fowler and James Murphy as challengers, according to Seabrook Town Clerk Cheryl Bowen.
With long-time Tax Collector Lillian Fowler retiring this year, two are vying for that three-year elected position: Deputy Tax Collector Michele Knowles and current School Board member Maria Brown.
According to Bowen, there are two seats available on Seabrook’s five-member School Board this year. Three candidates signed up to run, incumbent Michael Rabideau, as well as Seabrook Adventure Zone Director Forrest Carter, Jr., and Paul Knowles. Both seats have three-year terms.
Many are running unopposed for available seats on town committees and boards.
Forrest Dow, Jr., and Max Abramson are running for the two three-year seats available on the Planning Board.
Ivan Eaton, III, is running for one vacancy on the Budget Committee with a three-year term, but no one signed up to run for the available two-year seat on the committee.
Incumbent Gary Fowler is running for one three-year seat as a member of the Trustees of the Trust Fund.
Eric Small is running for re-election to the Library Board of Trustees, also a three-year term.
Eight men are running for three available one-year positions as constables: James Sanborn, Max Abramson, Wayne Felch Jr., Ivan Eaton III, Francis Chase, Jason Janvrin, William Fowler and Timothy Rooney.
Residents can hear what candidates have to offer at Seabrook’s Candidate’s night, which will be broadcast live on the town’s cable access channel at 6 p.m. on Feb. 22.
Seabrook held its first, or deliberative, session of Town Meeting on Tuesday night, Feb 6. According to Town Manager Bill Manzi, all warrant articles were retained as written with no amendments made. The meeting was adjourned at 9 p.m.
Seabrook’s annual Town Meeting takes place on Tuesday, March 13. Polls will be open at Seabrook Community Center from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Registered voters should bring a photo ID to the polls.
Voter registration is available at the polls for Seabrook residents not yet registered. Proof of age, residency and a photo ID are required.
