A man was shot in the head early Thursday while sitting in a car at an east Fort Worth apartment complex.
Witnesses told Fort Worth police that someone fired several shots from the right rear passenger side of the car, striking the man, approximately 18-24 years old, in the head.
Police responded initially, just before 5 a.m., to the shots fired call at Las Mariposas apartment complex, 2010 E Loop 820. They did not find a victim or possible suspects when they arrived.
A second call came in minutes later, reporting that the man had been shot, and that he had been driven to a nearby apartment complex, Sandy Oaks, at 1553 Sandy Ln. The other two occupants of the vehicle led police back to Las Mariposas, where the shooting occurred.
Police found shell casings at Las Mariposas.
"It is believed that the victim will not survive his injuries," said officer Bradley Perez, a Fort Worth Police Department spokesman. He was in "very critical" condition when he was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital.
No arrests have been made, and there were no suspects as of 7 a.m. Thursday.
