Eleanor McCandless Fredericks Monaca Eleanor McCandless Fredericks, 91, of Monaca, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Born on November 11, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Charles W., Sr. and Clara M. (Welsh) McCandless. Following graduation from Monaca High School, Class of 1944, Eleanor gained employment as a switchboard operator with Bell Telephone, then Craig's Answering Service and later Rheem, and lastly, Pittsburgh Forging. Eleanor loved crossword and word search puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mike Fredericks, exactly 30 years to the date in 1988; a son, Allen Fredericks; a daughter, Carol Skrlac; a brother, Chuck McCandless; a sister, Marian Poliak; mother-in-law, Ann Staff; brother-in-law, Tom (Shirley) Fredericks; brother-in-law, Richard Fredericks; and brother-in-law, Larry Kilian. Eleanor is survived by a son, Timothy (Mary Sue) Fredericks; a son-in-law, Jack Skrlac; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Fredericks; nine grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Rowland, Brad (Nadine) Skrlac, Drew (Jaime) Fredericks, Todd Fredericks, Steven (April) Fredericks, Matt Fredericks, Ben (Erin) Fredericks, Laura Fredericks, and Curtis (Jennifer) Skelton; nineteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Pat Kilian; and many nieces and nephews.
