Huawei has dropped a massive hint its forthcoming P20 flagship will arrive with a triple-lens rear camera.

In the official invite to its Paris event on March 27, the Chinese firm placed three distinct circles that are likely to represent camera lenses.

The kicker is the tagline: “See mOOOre with AI,” suggesting the camera will boast enhanced artificial intelligence features as well as an additional sensor.

In isolation, the triple camera conclusion would likely be one of many theories spawned by the invite.

However, earlier this week the device reportedly broke cover in case renders, showing a vertically aligned camera set up.

Also, back in December, a tweet from Evan Blass (@evleaks) floated the idea of a triple lens Leica rear camera system, with a 40-megapixel sensor and 5x hybrid zoom.

In creative agency materials, the so called “PCE Series” also offered a 25-megapixel selfie camera, a pro night mode and intelligent scene recognition with auto framing.

If true, the Huawei P20 might become one of the most capable smartphone cameras, and thereby represent a big leap forward for the series.

With Samsung believed to be upping its game with the dual-camera Galaxy S9 Plus and the Pixel 2 camera leading the way, Huawei realises that imaging is an important battleground.

The phone is likely to come in three editions, the P20, P20 Plus and P20 Lite. This has been the case for previous P series phones.

However, this year it looks like the company is making a big leap from P10 straight to P20 name, so it could mean more significant features beyond the triple-lens cameras.

We’re looking forward to seeing the device unveiled on March 27. Keep it locked to Trusted Reviews for our first impressions.
