ImOn picks Calix Systems to deliver gigabit services to Cedar Rapids

Calix announced ImOn Communications, an operator from eastern Iowa, will leverage its fibre products to offer gigabit business and residential services in its new service areas. Systems and software from Calix, including the E7-2 Intelligent Modular System, Calix Cloud, and Carrier Class Wi-Fi enabled GigaCenters will help ImOn to transition from a traditional cable plant into a software-defined network for both residents and businesses.

Calix said its PON products leap beyond a simple fibre deep architecture to a full, agile FTTH platform. In addition, ImOn’s fibre network will be built on a Calix platform that delivers always-on capabilities, eliminating the need in the future for maintenance windows and providing a simple way to pivot to a software-defined network without impacting workflows and operations.
