The Youth Congress will gherao the residence of the Chief Minister, Naveen Niwas, on Thursday to protest the Kunduli gangrape and suicide case, informed former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Majhi at a Press conference here on Wednesday.
Majhi’s announcement came soon after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced to hand over the case to a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
In reaction to the Chief Minister’s announcement, Majhi said, “The State Government has no faith on its own investigative agencies. Initially, it ordered a probe by the State police, which gave a red flag tag to the case. Later, it asked the Crime Branch to investigate. Then while the Crime Branch probe is on, the Chief Minister ordered a judicial probe; and now, the SIT to investigate the matter. All this proves that the State Government has no faith even on the judiciary and has, in fact, entangled itself in its own net.”
Majhi further said, “We have filed a case in Supreme Court on Tuesday and decided to gherao the Naveen Niwas tomorrow so that the same tragic incident may not be repeated in the life of any other women or girl in the State.”
