RTD personnel will not succumb to threats

PUTRAJAYA: The Road and Transport Department (RTD) personnel will not succumb to threats in carrying out their enforcement and investigation duties, said its director-general Datuk Seri Shaharuddin Khalid.

He said RTD personnel were committed to upholding the law.

"Previously, there were various threats but not for long. So, such threats will not deter the officers from carrying out their duties because RTD always receives such threats," he told reporters when met at the MS 828: 2011 light reflector installation demonstration on commercial vehicles at the Transport Ministry here today.

Shaharuddin was commenting on the fire incident at Kuala Kangsar RTD which destroyed three vehicles belonging to the department yesterday.

On the installation of the light reflector, he said six-month trial period and a campaign would be conducted to ensure that commercial vehicles would be installed with the reflectors before the enforcement begun. — Bernama
