Ormond Beach open gym

The Ormond Beach Gymnastics Center will host open gym nights from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 16, and 23, at 432 N. Nova Road. Anyone between the ages of 8 and 21 may participate. Whether you are a beginner or have gymnastics experience, you can come by and practice old skills or brush up on new skills. This will be an open gym format and there will only be light spotting. Coaches will be on the floor at all times. The cost is $5 per participant. Participants may register at the Leisure Services Registration Office, 399 N US 1. Healthy Start Coalition annual meeting

Florida's Surgeon General Celeste Philip, M.D., will present a keynote address about the state of maternal and infant health locally and around the state from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at 1000 Champions Way, Daytona Beach. The Friends of the DeLand Regional Library will host its monthly book sale from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8; 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9; and 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10. The sale will be in the library’s auditorium, 130 E. Howry Ave.. The Friends' Book Store will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Colonel Arthur Erwin DeLand DAR to meet

The Colonel Arthur Erwin DeLand Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will meet noon Friday, Feb. 9, at the Cloisters, 404 E. Howry Ave. The guest speaker will be Volusia County Judge Dawn P. Fields, who will speak on the subject "Celebrating African-American Contributions to American History." Cost is $10 at the door and includes lunch. The Mary S. Harrell Black Heritage Museum presents the 27th annual Black Heritage Festival noon to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Pettis Park, 400 N. Duss St., New Smyrna Beach. The festival will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 11. There will be music, entertainment, food, crafts and vendors. There will be a screening of “Despicable Me 3” 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, at Dickinson Park, 120 E. Graves Ave., Orange City. The Orange City Police Explorers will have hot dogs for sale and there will be free popcorn. Bring lawn chairs or a blanket. For information, call 386-775-5410.

There will be a dinner dance from 1 to 5 p.m. every Sunday in February at Polish American Pulaski Club, 3621 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach. Dinner is at 1 p.m. and dancing starts at 2 p.m. Cost is a $20 donation for both and $12 for the dance only. RSVP for the dinner the Friday before the dance.
