Mumbai, Feb 8: A software engineer has been arrested in Mumbai on charges of creating a fake Twitter account in the name of Sara Tendulkar, daughter of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar. According to reports, the engineer, Nitin Shishode, was arrested from Andheri for allegedly fake Twitter handle of Sara Tendulkar and tweeting objectionable comments against NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Reports say that Shishode used to create fake accounts of celebrities to generate online traffic and make money. One of the celebrities he targeted was Sara Tendulkar.
Last month, a 32-year-old resident of West Bengal reportedly harassed Sara. He was arrested from Kolkata by the police. The accused, Dev Kumar Maiti, was allegedly calling on Tendulkar’s residential landline. The Tendulkar family had registered a complaint against him at Bandra police station in Mumbai.
“I saw her on tv sitting at the pavilion during a match and fell in love…I want to marry her. I fetched the landline number of Tendulkar and have called on it some 20 times…Have never seen her in person,” Dev Kumar Maiti had told police.
