GACL net profit more than doubles

Ahmedabad, Feb 8

State-run Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd (GACL) has posted a net profit of Rs 112 crore for the third quarter ended December 2017, up 137 per cent, against Rs 47.32 crore reported in the corresponding period of the previous year.

For the three-month period, the company posted net sales of Rs 612 crore, up 28 per cent, against Rs 476 crore reported in the same period last year.

For the nine-month period, the company's net profit jumped to Rs 313.96 crore, showing an increase of 42 per cent, against Rs 221 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.

During the nine-month period ended December 31, 2017, GACL achieved net sales of Rs 1,733 crore, up 15 per cent, against Rs 1,510 crore in the same period previous year.

The board of directors of GACL at its meeting held at Gandhinagar recently approved the financial results of the company. GACL shares were trading up by 0.71 per cent at Rs 727.95 on the BSE.
