Bangladesh and Turkey have discussed enhanced cooperation between the two countries to solve the Rohingya crisis that affected Bangladesh severely.
Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey M Allama Siddiki met President of the Turkish General National Assembly's Foreign Relations Committee, Volkan Bozkir, at the premises of the Turkish General National Assembly on Tuesday and discussed the issue.
The Ambassador also apprised the President of the consolidation of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Turkey in recent times, said the Embassy on Wednesday.
While appreciating Bangladesh's recent progress in different fields, Volkant Bozkir hoped that the coming days would see intense engagements between the two sides.
In this regard, he referred to recent visit of the Prime Minister of Turkey to Bangladesh.
Both of them also discussed various aspects of existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Turkey.
They agreed that there are a huge potential in sectors like trade, economic transaction, cultural, educational, as well as agricultural cooperation for the two peoples.
They also discussed ways and means to strengthen interactions among the parliamentarians of the two countries.
The meeting was also the occasion to discuss foreign policy issues and priorities of the two friendly countries.
President Bozkir, former Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Turkey to the EU and Member of Parliament from Istanbul since 2011, was a Minister for EU Affairs in the 62nd and 64nd governments. —UNB
