Hyderabad, Feb 8: The Left parties called for a statewide Andhra Pradesh bandh on February 8 in protest against the Union Budget 2018 which they called “injustice done to Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget and the betrayal of the people of the State by the NDA government at the Centre.” Earlier in the day, more than 1300 APS RTC buses were stopped in Visakhapatnam during Andhra Pradesh bandh, ANI reported.
In view of the Andhra Pradesh bandh today on February 6, 2018, here is a list of services that are likely to be hit or operate in the state.
WHAT IS CLOSED, WHAT IS OPEN?
Auto-rickshaws: Since the auto-rickshaws have shown their support to the Andhra Pradesh bandh, the services are expected to remain hit for today. Some of them, however, said that they would remain off roads for a few hours.
Buses: Although bus services are not going to be hit on statewide shutdown. Although Dy Traffic Chief Manager Nagendra Babu had said that they are not participating in the bandh, as reported by News Minute, earlier in the day, more than 1300 APSRTC buses were stopped.
Colleges and Schools: Student unions have said that they will boycott the classes for today. The students should note that there is no official confirmation on the same.
Hospitals: Hospitals will not be closed.
The Congress party and YSR Congress Party have lent their support to the Andhra Pradesh bandh or shutdown call. The Left parties have alleged that the government “completely ignored Andhra Pradesh” in the Budget 2018 and that there was no mention of any allocations for the construction of the new capital, Amaravati. They have also alleged that the Budget 2018 didn’t recognise construction of any other major project such as promised railway zone at Visakhapatnam, Polavaram irrigation project on the Godavari, and fund allocation to the central educational institutions.
