Evolving Facilities Management

We expect 13 million ridership by 2041
The Year in Infrastructure 2017

Event  /  Nov 2017

CBRE South Asia, the world's largest real estate consulting firm, in association with CII organised the conference on 'Strategies and Challenges - Next Gen Workplaces' in New Delhi.

Elaborating on the significance of a technologically-transformed workspace with the growth of an agile and digitalised new workforce, the conclave was inaugurated by Anshuman Magazine, Chairman, India and South-East Asia, CBRE, along with the Chief Guest, Satyendra Kumar Jain, Urban Development, Home, Power, PWD, Industries, Government of Delhi and Minister of Health.

The platform witnessed an exchange of novel thoughts on the various challenges faced by upcoming workplaces and the strategies to address those challenges along with a discussion on how facility management continues to expand its mandate and move outside its traditional comfort zone. Leaders across industries graced the event. Eminent leaders included Rajesh Pandit, Managing Director - Global Workplace Solutions, CBRE South Asia; Amit Ramani, Founder & CEO, Awfis Space Solutions; Mili Mazumdar, Chief Executive Officer, Green Business Certification Institute (GBCI); Rahul Aggarwal, Global Operations Properties SPOC - South Asia; Paras Gada, Director, Head - Property Services, RBS Services India and Ravinder Singh, National Director AWS, EMEIA Ernst & Young.

Magazine of CBRE said, 'We are honored to have partnered with CII to highlight the trends of evolving workplaces through infrastructure management. India has a large talent pool with 60-65 per cent of urban millennial in India and companies are trying to make constant efforts to attract the best talent by providing them required infrastructure - be it technology, wellness or mobility.

This has created a new opportunity for India's office market with multi-nationals setting their base in the country.' He further added, 'With India emerging as a hotspot for corporate expansion strategies, it is only natural that concepts such as shared offices or co-working spaces become increasingly preferred. This structure offers socially collaborative learning which meets the customised needs of users with the best suited environment to increase productivity.'

Jain said, 'The Delhi Government through DSIIDC is coming up with three infrastructure projects which are presently under sanction and will be launched soon. All the buildings under this project will be Green Buildings and LEED certified.' He further added, 'With the latest trend in Delhi office spaces becoming smaller and utility based, soon corporates and even the government offices will move from a five-day working week to a work-from-home approach to avoid wasting transit time.' He concluded by saying, 'Delhi's infrastructure will improve through public-private partnerships where subject matter experts will come together to join hands with the Delhi Government and chart the best practices for the betterment of our city. The Delhi Government is open and eager to work with the industry to realise this goal.'

Key sessions of the convention included Building for the Millennial, Changing Face of Sustainability, Essentials of Effective Leadership in the New Era and Management of New Age Workplaces. The discussions focused on how emerging technologies are leading the transformation of the corporate landscape by aiding the establishment of co-working workplaces in the age of rising occupancy costs, the importance of designing for new age constructions, understanding the requirements of employees and compliance towards initiatives for stronger and sustainable infrastructure.

After the fire at the Deonar dump yard in Mumbai, we came to know that waste management is a necessary aspect of our lives and what can happen if we neglect it. In India, proper waste management is hardly taken into consideration. It's great to see such an efficient technology being implemented in India. Plastic has created enormous hazards to our environment. Suhas Dixit is doing a great job with his patented technology. Pyrocrat Systems is helping out a lot to the society by doing a sustainable business with a great financial value.
