Imphal, February 07 2018: 29 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) conducted a picnic for the children of Mombi and Kuljang villages, to Kakching garden and the Khonjom War Memorial on 06 Feb 2018.A total of 31 children, between the ages of 09 to 20 years, from both villages, were part of the picnic.

These villages, being close to the Indo-Myanmar border, are quite remote with limited road connectivity.

Thus, it is difficult for children of such villages to have an exposure to areas beyond the hills.

To overcome this hurdle, 29 Assam Rifles provided transport and assistance to the children of Kuljang and Mombi village, after taking permission from their parents and guardians and conducted a picnic to Kakching Garden and Khonjom War Memorial.

The children were ecstatic and enjoyed the mini road trip cum picnic thoroughly.

It has been the endeavour of 29 Assam Rifles, to constantly expose the youth of border villages to a better standard of living, towards the aim of achieving a more educated, hardworking and trustworthy generation.

Further, visits such as these would enable young impressionable minds to integrate with nationalistic mainstream and act as catalysts for channelizing their aspirations towards achieving lofty goals in life.
