In November 2016, "Backstreet Boys" singer Nick Carter was accused of rape.

His accuser, Melissa Schuman, says the alleged assault took place in 2003.

According to People, Schuman filed an official report on Wednesday.

The Santa Monica Police Department is conducting an investigation. Carter denied the assault in a November statement.

He says his sexual relations with Schuman were consensual..
