Auto Expo 2018: All New Maruti Suzuki Swift Launched For Rs 4.99 Lakh

Available in both K12 VVT petrol and DDis 190 diesel engines, Swift will now have Maruti Suzuki’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology in both the trims

India’s largest car manufacturer, by volume, Maruti Suzuki has finally launched its much awaited hatchback the all-new Swift at the Auto Expo 2018 on February 7.

The all-new Swift has received some major technical as well as cosmetic changes.

Available in both K12 VVT petrol and DDis 190 diesel engines, it will now have Maruti Suzuki’s Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology in both the trims.

In the petrol engine, the AGS will come in Vxi and Zxi trims, and in the diesel engine, the technology will be available in Vdi and Zdi trims. The petrol variant starts from Rs 4.99 lakh, and the diesel one from Rs 5.99 lakh.

The all-new Maruti Suzuki Swift will be offered in six exterior colour options - Prime Lucent Orange (new), Prime Midnight Blue, SLD Fire Red, PRL Arctic White, Met Silky Silver, and Met Magma Grey.

Built on Suzuki's 5th generation HEARTECT platform, the all-new Swift is wider, compact and with longer wheelbase allowing more cabin space, headroom as well as luggage space.

The new front grille design — single-aperture, complemented with floating roof and accentuated by wrap around windows, together adorn the exterior of the all-new Swift.

The boldness of the car is demonstrated by wrap around windshield with unified DLO (day light opening) graphic and vertically sweeping lamps. LED projector headlamps with a signature LED DRL design, coupled with precision cut two-tone alloy wheels, provide a distinct look to the hatchback.

The all-new Swift is 40mm wide, and at the same time comes with a 20mm longer wheelbase that creates more cabin space.

The interior of the Swift has driver-oriented cockpit design, with flat bottom steering, bolstered seats and urbane satin chrome finish.

The cockpit design of the interior is enhanced by driver-side tilted HMI (human machine interface) controls.

The luggage space increases by 58 litres, around 28 per cent more than the second generation Swift. The car has around 24mm more headroom.

On safety, the all-new Swift embodies Suzuki’s Total Effective Control Technology (TECT) for occupant protection and complies with frontal offset and side impact regulations and meets advanced regulations for pedestrian safety, claims the automaker. Dual airbags and ABS with EBD and ISOFIX (child seat restraint system) are standard.

From infotainment perspective, the all-new Swift comes with a future-ready SmartPlay Infotainment System, which is compatible with Apple Carplay, Android Auto and Mirrorlink.

The in-built Voice Recognition with Indian accent English, Bluetooth audio streaming and navigation furthers the infotainment experience. Reverse parking camera display is also integrated with the infotainment screen.

Maruti Suzuki announced the pre-launch bookings for the new Swift on January 18 with an initial payment of Rs 11,000 from its showrooms across the country.
